RAITH ROVERS 1 - 0 AIRDRIE UTD
Back to winning ways at home, and our run of 2 bad back-to-back defeats ended. Although we were made to wait till late on and it did take a wonder strike from Rob Sloan to seal it.
Pre-match was busy in Styx thanks to the old firm game on Setanta, although most of the watching weegie fans were the Rovers squad in to watch the game! Fife's Finest were busy as ever rolling up the 250 official team posters we bought to give away to kids in the ground.
Atmosphere was good in the ground with the usual choir in good voice, despite us going 1-0 down about 20 minutes in. Shambles of a goal to lose, as usual, in what was pretty much Airdrie's only effort in the half. Still, we kept going and the stewards were fantastic today, letting us stand no bother and they were respected back. Goes to show the benefits of sensible stewarding - no trouble, no complaints, no agro - a credit to their employers. For a change.
Half time then, thought of the home jinx were up for discussion however after 2 good victories on the road there was a feeling that we could turn it round and that this might be the day we break the jinx. The half-time score from East End Park gave everyone a lift - 3-0 to Hamilton!
2nd half, we played well and were rewarded with a deserved penalty depatched by Graham Weir after Hissy (who had another good game) won a penalty. Then the moment we've been waiting for at Starks for a while, and absolutely stunning goal from Rob Sloan who picked the ball up inside the Airdrie half and done what most opposing players do to our defence before the score - run at the defenders. With the Airdrie defence backing off, Sloan let rip with his right foot from 30 yards for a sensational goal, which went in off the crossbar before we all reailsed it had gone in.

Ross County may well have won emphatically at Ayr, but it's points that matter and we're still neck-and-neck at the top of the league.
