ALLOA 2 - 1 RAITH
What a miserable day.
Shite weather, shite ground, shite view (and no view at all for some) and a shite result.
The busses were late departing from Kirkcaldy thanks to Boaby who had been dying his hair all morning, which although both busses were in the pub in Alloa by about quarter to one. Again, 2 full busloads which is encouraging.
| The wee pub in Alloa is a cracking place, only problem being that it's full of pillars with mirrors on them, meaning there's a danger you might end up bumping into yourself and spill both your drinks. The pre-match warm up was the opportunity for a good singsong about the townies, and for Stotty to show off his outstanding new tattoo. | |
The ground at Alloa is currently under construction, which meant for a tenner we were greeted with a flat tarmac surface and fuck-all view if you weren't right at the front.
The plastic pitch meant big Marv wasn't able to play, which was a huge blow and without trying to make excuses for the result, it obviously unsettled the defence a little bit. The plastic pitch itself looked more like a coalfield, every time the ball bounced it left a trail of thick black rubber smoke at the back of it.
As usaul the wee Alloa neds with their Rangers tops on were chucking coins and hurling abuse, although there was no need for some of our guys to react to at as, quite sensibly, the stewards and polis told them where to go.
The polis weren't all nice though and wouldn't let us put our flag up for danger of the perimiter wall collapsing. What a shitehole eh? To add insult to injury, they told us just to shut up and watch the match when most of us couldn't actually see the game!

Raith fans 'view' | The empty terracing sectioned off |
Rob Sloan kept up his good goalscoring run, scoring his 3rd goal in 3 consequitive games, although it was only consolation as we were 2-0 down at the time. I think. Not sure, couldn't see much. But it did prompt a chorus or two of Rob's new song (blatantly nicked from Hibs fans)
Despite being a shitty day, it did produce one of the highlights of the season, Steesh getting stuck in a portaloo after the lads turned it round whilst he was in there so the door was up against a wall! The boy will not be happy!
So not the best build up to the Cowdenbeath game, but here's hoping that the end to our good away form will instigate a run of good home results.
And at least Peden showed us all what to do when Raith get beat!
